So What is Turkesterone?

Turkesterone is considered an ecdysteroid which some compare to testosterone due to the potential to induce growth, however unlike test, ecdysteroids do not stick to androgen receptors and do not cause any of the negative side effects we often associate with steroids including things like gyno, hair loss, and lethargy.

Turkesterone shows promise as being one of the most if not the most anabolic out of all the ecysteroids.

Where Does Turkesterone Come From?

Turkesterone is one of the primary bioactive compounds naturally occurring in Ajuga turkestanica. This is plant with a long history of use in traditional medicine for its anabolic, adaptogenic, hepatoprotective and hypoglycemic activity.

In Uzbekistan and Tadzhikistan the plant has been valued for its beneficial effects on muscle strength and stomach aches. It has also been used for its protective action against heart diseases.

The plant can be found in several regions, including Australia.

Is Turkesterone Safe? What are the side effects of Turkesterone?

To date, studies that have been undertaken on the impacts of Turkesterone have shown no negative side effects.

One study in particular noted “The application of ecdysteroids is a promising alternative to the use of anabolic-androgenic steroids because of the apparent lack of adverse effects”.
Another study noted “No increase in biomarkers for liver or kidney toxicity was noticed”.

Furthermore, given Turkesterone is an ecdysteroid, which is a naturally occurring compound, found in several foods already, it is unlikely that serious side effects would occur – as, for instance, ecdysteroids are found in spinach – a common inclusion in the household salad.

What are the benefits of Turkesterone?

Some of the potential benefits as an ecdysteroid include:

• Activation of Notch receptors in skeletal muscle cells, which helps stem cells to develop into new muscle cells.

• Possession of anti-stress effects, which can indirectly support muscle building via optimizing cortisol levels in the body.

• Ecdysteroid-enriched extracts of Ajuga turkestanica have also been found to display anabolic effects on muscles.

• Immune boosting and stimulating effects
